Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

This policy covers “consumer health data” as Washington's My Health My Data Act and similar state laws define it. In a weight-management app that is most of what you give us, so read it alongside the main Privacy Policy, which says the same things in more detail. The data is controlled by Magic Weight.
The health data we collect
- Body measurements: weight and weigh-ins, height, and progress photos if you add them.
- Diet and nutrition: meals you log and their estimated calories and macros, meal photos, food allergies and dietary restrictions.
- Activity and energy: activities and calories burned, watch screenshots, and - if you connect Apple Health on iPhone - active and resting energy and weight readings.
- Health conditions you choose to record: pregnancy, breastfeeding, kidney disease, a history of an eating disorder, or insulin treatment.
- Symptoms you report while eating less, such as dizziness.
- Details used to estimate your metabolism: age or date of birth, sex, activity level and goals.
- What you tell the coach about any of the above, in the conversation.
Why we collect it
Only to provide the app you asked for: to record what you log, work out your calorie and protein targets and your measured maintenance, show your trends, keep targets within safe limits for any condition you recorded, and let the coach answer you with your own numbers. We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to build profiles for anyone else.
Where it comes from
- From you: what you type, the photos you send, and the answers you give during setup and on the You screen.
- From Apple Health, only if you connect it, and only the types listed above.
- From the app itself: estimates it calculates from the above, such as nutrition from a meal description or your maintenance from your logs.
Who we share it with
We share it only with the services that run the app for us, and only so they can:
- Supabase - stores it.
- Vercel - hosts the servers it passes through.
- Anthropic - receives your messages, photos, profile and recent entries so the coach can reply. It does not train its models on them.
We do not sell consumer health data, and we do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires us to.
Your rights, and how to use them
- Access it. Everything is visible in the app, and “Download my data” on the You screen gives you all of it as a file, at once. You can also email us for a list of the services that have received it.
- Delete it. “Delete my account” at the bottom of the You screen deletes it all immediately; any single entry, photo or condition can be deleted on its own. See Delete your account for exactly what is removed.
- Withdraw consent. Stop sharing any category by removing it: clear a health condition on the You screen, delete entries or photos, or turn off Apple Health access in the iPhone's Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices. Withdrawing consent to all of it means deleting the account, because the app cannot coach you without it.
- Ask, or appeal. Email support@magic-weight.com from your account's address. We answer within 45 days. If we refuse a request, reply to say you are appealing and we will review it and answer within 45 days; if you are still unhappy, you can contact the Washington State Attorney General at atg.wa.gov.
